Brownfields Training

Get trained and certified in brownfields remediation!

As a B’more Green Brownfields Training participant, you will learn to safely and effectively clean up industrially contaminated sites. You will work with local Baltimore companies that require brownfields clean up and redevelopment.

Since 2001, the B’more Green Brownfields Training program has prepared unemployed and underemployed Baltimore residents for brownfields mitigation careers. 


Participants enrolled in our training program earn federal and state recognized environmental health and safety certifications. Participants also attend personal development workshops to address barriers to obtaining and retaining employment.  

Graduates from our program obtain federal and state recognized certifications such as, but not limited to:

  • OSHA Hazardous Waste Site Worker (HAZWOPER)
  • Asbestos Abatement Supervisor
  • Lead Abatement Worker
  • Confined Space Operations

If you are interested in applying to the training program, you must meet the following criteria:  

  • 18 years or older
  • Drug Free
  • Able to pass a respiratory exam
  • Willing to work on roofs & in confined spaces
  • Be a Baltimore City resident
  • Attend a mandatory information session

Participants who successfully complete the program are eligible for job placement assistance. Most entry-level positions offer family sustaining wages, benefits and the opportunity for advancement, with an average starting wage between $12 and $16 per hour.
