Homeowners across the country are beginning to realize the benefits of home energy efficiency. Energy retrofitting is an industry primed for expansion and job creation.

As a B’more Green Energy Retrofit Trainee, you will learn how to make a house more energy efficient. Once enrolled in our program, you will learn the principles of building science and obtain the skills necessary to properly air seal, insulate, and cool roof homes.

As a Trainee, you will start your training in a classroom setting, which will be followed by a hands-on practicum. After successfully completing the classroom and hands-on component of the training program, you will have an opportunity to participate in a paid on-the-job training with our sister program, EnergyReady.

In order to apply to the training program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Attend a mandatory information session
  • Have a valid driver’s license (license required before graduation)
  • Willing to work on roofs and in confined spaces
  • Be drug free
  • Be a Baltimore City resident

Individuals who have met all eligibility requirements above will go through a screening process, and will be selected based on the following criteria: first and second interviews, drug, and background results.

Program graduation and employment assistance are based on successfully meeting all program requirements, including but not limited to, demonstration of professional behaviors, passing course exams, punctuality, and attendance.

Our graduates are placed into entry-level green careers with employers that offer a living wage ($12.00-$16.00 per hour) and opportunities for advancement.
