DNR Natural Resources Training

Get trained for a career in natural resources! The program will be offer two separate tracks.

The Land & Environment track will include skills training relating to:

  • Forestry/Tree Care
  • Environmental Restoration
  • Land Management

The Land & Marine Construction track will include skills training relating to:

  • Concrete, tile, & drywall
  • Dredging & small machinery
  • Blueprints & design

Operated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, in partnership with Civic Works, Work2Live WELL is a personal and professional development program with fast-track entry into the important career world of the environment and natural resources. The program combines hands-on field learning, classroom sessions, and one-on-one mentoring. A stipend will be paid to selected participants who meet expectations of commitment and responsibility. Course materials, equipment/supplies and uniforms are also included free of charge.

If you are interested in applying to the training program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Attend a mandatory information session
  • 18 years or older
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Interested in working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Physical fitness sufficient to continuously perform strenuous activities (climb ladders, carry a minimum of 50 lbs, etc.)

Individuals who have met all eligibility requirements above will go through an interview and screening process.

Program graduation and employment assistance are based on successfully meeting all program requirements, including but not limited to, demonstration of relevant construction skills, punctuality, and attendance.

Graduates are connected with interviews for entry-level green careers.
